OUR ELDERS

At BBC of Maplewood, we are led by elders. Elders are men called by God, affirmed by the local church, to serve and care for the flock of Christ by pastoring and teaching, from the whole word of God.

Tom Henry

Lead Pastor

Tom was born and raised in rural southwest Missouri. The Lord saved him when he was 17 years of age between his junior and senior years of high school. After graduating high school in 1963, he came to St. Louis. In searching for a sound church, in the good providence of God, he was led to Bible Baptist Church. He soon became a member of BBC under the faithful ministry of
Pastor Holmes Moore, where he would answer God’s call to preach the Gospel. It was here that he met Jeannie Allen whose family had been with the church from its beginning. Tom and Jeannie were married in 1967. Upon graduation from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, they returned to St Louis, and to BBC where Tom served with Holmes Moore as Assistant Pastor from 1968 through 1973. From 1974 through 1981 he pastored Temple Baptist Church in Monett, Missouri. After eight years in Monett, he then returned to BBC where he would again pastor alongside Brother Moore. Due to failing health Pastor Moore stepped down as head pastor in 2010, at which time the church voted to have Pastor Henry to assume that position.

"My vision for the church is to see growth – to see numerical growth, but
more so, to see growth in grace in holiness. I would see the church grow
stronger in love for the Lord and for one another. I long to see the church’s young families seeking first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, training their children in the Lord, preparing and shaping the next generation of Bible
Baptist Church."

Donny Meyer

Elder

Donny became a believer in 2017 at the age of 29. He is married to his best friend, Deni, who also passionately loves the Lord. After several years of pastoring a church plant, the Lord graciously led his family to Bible Baptist in 2022 to become members and a fellow laborer in preaching and teaching. He also has the privilege of leading Bible Baptist's prison ministry in one of our local prisons.

"My hope for Bible Baptist is that our faith in Christ, love for God, and love for one another continues and abounds. It is my utmost desire that the gospel of Jesus Christ may be fully known, adored, and cherished by all members; and that each member live such a life in Christ that God would be exalted for the whole world to behold His glory in, and through, His people on earth."

Christian Henry

Elder

Christian is from St. Louis, Missouri where he attended Bible Baptist Church of Maplewood for most of his life. After going to Maryville University in St. Louis from 2016-2019, he left to pursue studies at Reformed Baptist Seminary. Graduating in December 2022, he was later ordained by the church in July 2023. He occasionally fills the pulpit and contributes to a biweekly collection of devotional articles.

"My hope for the church is that God will continue to affect the hearts of the congregation to trust and believe in Him further. I also pray that if God sees fit, He will be with His ministers to do so."
